First Church of God's direct local ministries

Our Benevolence Ministry directs several programs aimed at drawing people to God by the physical expression of God’s love. These ministries receive many requests for help, and many of them are urgent. Our focus here is to help those with short-term, circumstantial need; we refer people with long-term needs to other organizations. We have established a procedure to ensure that the available benevolence funds are used effectively to help people in these crisis situations.
  • Bag Hunger Ministry: Together we can…TACKLE HUNGER!
First Church is firmly committed to doing our part in addressing the ever-growing need for food throughout the Indian River community. We distribute food boxes in the church office Mondays and Thursdays between 11:00am and 2:00pm. During these times we meet with people in need; we listen, we pray, we share the gospel.
  • Financial Assistance Ministry: This ministry assists people who need help paying bills, car repairs, gasoline, etc. We receive applications daily in the office, we then schedule interviews by appointment. During these interviews we may counsel individuals or refer them to more intensive financial counseling, their needs are assessed, we listen, we pray, we share the gospel.
  • Additionaly, Ministry to our own congregants is done through the Congregational Care Ministry.
