: what we believe

We would like to tell you more about what we believe as a local church. Our hope is that by learning more about us, it will settle any questions that you may have and bring you closer to joining our fellowship. When taking a closer look at a local church, many questions arise. Questions like, what do you believe, what are the distinct differences, and how do you stand on key doctrines of the faith.

We will try to answer those questions and others, in hopes that you will have a clearer picture of our local fellowship.  However, it is not our desire to disassociate ourselves from other church groups in the Christian community. Therefore, we will approach ‘what we believe’ with a great deal of sensitivity, not because we are unsure of our beliefs, but because we are cautious to avoid division within the Body of Christ. After all, what really matters is what we have in common as Christians:  the "essential" doctrines of the infallibility of God's Word, the virgin birth of Christ, His sinless life, death for our sins, bodily resurrection, ascension to glory, and His second coming. These are the essence of Christianity and agreed upon by virtually all born again believers. When we move away from the essential doctrines to those that are less essential, we risk setting barriers up in the church, something we have no desire to do. Still, there are distinctions that give more definition to First Church of God and you might want to know what those distinctions are.
